Two New Babies

I usually don’t write or talk about projects before they’re finalized and ready to be set free into the world. It’s been a long-standing rule for me because the risk is too high. Things happen, technology shifts and priorities are modified. Such is the life of a web worker.

That being said, I’m making two exceptions today: one personal and one professional.

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that yesterday I let the figurative cat (and literal baby) out of the bag. My wife Jilly and I are so happy to be expecting a new addition to our family. We’re at 13 weeks today and looking at a late-August delivery. Fatherhood has had an incredible impact on every aspect of my life – mentally, spiritually, professionally, creatively – and I’m looking forward to experiencing it again for the second time.

As an aside, I just made a mental note to revisit the topic of “Fatherhood and Creativity” in a future entry.

On the professional side of things, I’ve been working the past several weeks to launch a Static Made podcast. The logistical and technological legwork has been completed and I’ve started recording the first several episodes. Each installment of the podcast will feature a special guest who I feel does interesting work at the intersection of digital communication, emerging technologies and mission-based work.

The confirmed guest list so far is amazing. There will be a great cross-section of creatives from various diciplines – artists, musicians, arts managers, corporate marketers and agencies. I’m humbled by the fact that some of these people would want to rap with me for a half-hour about their approach to communicating, and I’m excited to see where this project goes.

Look for the first episode to appear here and on iTunes the week of 3/1.

Congrats on both fronts, man! Completely agree with your thoughts on fatherhood. It’s been amazing for me all the way.
