Static Made v2.0
I’m a fiend for simplicity with respect to most things in my life. Web design is no different. When it comes to my digital home I like it to be clean, simple and mindful of purpose.
When J.D. Bentley shared his new design with me, I fell in love with the light aesthetic and playful elements. I like that the focus is on his words and only the necessary design choices are included. Nothing more. J.D.’s tasteful reinvention ultimately lit a fire within me to consider a reboot as well.
I give you Static Made version 2.0.
On the outside, you’ll notice a significant reorganization and the addition of responsive design elements. The old site activated a mobile theme when viewed on a handheld device, while this new design serves up mobile-optimized content through responsive resizing. The logo has also changed slightly, although the distressed lightning bolt persists.
A lot has changed on the back-end as well. The new design makes use of a forked version of GravityOnMars’ wp-svbtle theme, which includes an free-standing post-creation admin independent of the WordPress dashboard. This new admin area is streamlined, elegant and supports Markdown syntax making it easy to write extemporaneously in the browser (as I’m doing right now) or paste in from any text editor.
I hope you like the new design as much as I do. As with any significant web change, there will be bugs. If you find anything wonky such as broken links and the like, feel free to get in touch.
Thanks so much for your continued readership.
